Hello, friends happy Monday!  Are you ready for the week?  Me neither.  Hmm.  Well, let's face it together!  And what better way to start than with Blove!!

I found Julie and her blog on Pinterest.  This is what caught my attention...

See that really cute rug?  You do?  Ok, well that's a DROP CLOTH!   How cool is that?  She shows you how to make it so easily.  Have a drop cloth but don't need an outdoor rug? How about a faux Parisian Roman shade?  

These are just a couple of the really great tutorials that Julie shares.  Another project I really liked of hers was when she redecorated her daughter's room and made these curtains...

(they just make me smile when I look at them!)

And this black and white window treatment (you have to see how she did it!)

Julie is quite a talented lady, and I really respect her because it's evident in her writing that she is humble about her abilities.  She's also very outspoken about her relationship with the Lord, which is always very cool!  

So you can tell that I'm in Blove.  Check her out and I'm sure you will be too!

Hello, Blove!

Well I'm coming off of a great weekend! A kick butt blogging conference with a fashion show hosted byTim Gunn (sounds very VIP, but really I was a little fly in a standing room only event).  Exhibit A:

So anyway, great weekend and ready for a great week.  I hope you are too!  Let's kick it off with a little Blove, shall we?  What is Blove, you ask?

Yes, I'm one of those people who likes to annoyingly combine words together (togethords).  I actually think I invented it, although I can't prove it.  Anyhow,

When I stumbled upon this blog I thought I had died and gone to thrift store heaven. Mandi, the author, is a guru when it comes to taking cheap finds and turning them into very unique and mod pieces. She has such a great sense of humor that comes through not only in her writing but in her craft as well.  Oh, and did I mention she has been on the Nate Berkus Show?!!!

Here's just a sample of her aweseome-ness:

Gender lamps - So clever!  (That whole room was pretty much a big amazing ball of  DIY)

Wood grain glitter lamp ... Amazing!

She'll even show you how to make your own zebra rug - like, actually make a rug!

Happy Monday everyone!  Is your week off to a great start?  Have you had your coffee yet?  My little guy was up quite early today, so I'm going to boast in the fact that I had my first cup by 6:30.  Apparently new moms find crazy new things to boast about.  Like the fact that your baby had 3 days of great pooping!  Oh, dear.
Anyhow, we had a fantastic weekend (I hope you did too!)  With some special family members in town, I put together a big family picnic at a near by park.  It was great fun and as soon as I can gather and organize all of the pictures taken, I'll be sure to post them.

Well it's Monday, and you know what that means...

This week I have a great find for you.  The creator is a girl after my own heart.  It's called Caits Creates.  Here's her button:

Cait is currently in Grad School, works a part-time job, and still manages to be crafty and bloggy!  I say she's a girl after my own heart because she's all about thrifting.  Many of her posts share her great thrifty finds and how she oh, so creatively upcycles them into something fabulous!  

One of my favorite Caits Creates revamp is this placemat turned pillow:

she also made this blah mirror totally great!

Another feature that makes this blog read-worthy is the "Deal of the Week" segment.  She manages to find ways to get things cheap or free like $5 movies or free Valspar paint!   Now who wouldn't love that?

Hello, friends.  I've missed you.  Our week has been busy, but good.  Since we've last spoke, I've had an emergency root canal...woot, woot!  My dad (Papa) came in from out of town, my dear Abuelo is in the hospital, and the audiologist found fluid in my little man's ears.  Praise God they're not infected as he already has hearing loss - have I mentioned that before?  It doesn't sound like great things happened, but we've had some invaluable family moments that I wouldn't trade.  To mark the end of our week (and the beautiful day today), we took a family picture...

Putting aside the fact that she's so darn cute, her blog is one great big ball of inspiration.  As the name suggests, Melanie shares some of the most fabulous finds around the www she calls her faves.  And let me tell you, homegirl has awesome taste.  From all things mustard yellow to pom poms and centerpieces, I guarantee you will fall in love, ehem, blove.  Oh, and to add to her coolness, she's a quite talented event coordinator.  Have a looksy:

Blog + Love = Blove

I happen to be quite excited about this week's Blove.  I stumbled across this one the other night as I was caught in one of my many and frequent blog rabbit holes (you know - a link, leads to a link, leads to a link, etc.).  Well, I'm so glad I did because this was really a find!  If you have little girls, you'll be in heaven.  If you have little boys, you'll start daydreaming about having a little girl (or at least how to get a ruffle on your son without your husband getting too miffed).  Seriously, it's that cute.  It's called Girl. Inspired. 

In a word: sweet.  This mommy of 3 beautiful girls comes up with the most gorgeous creations.  From dresses to pinatas, her choice of fabrics and texture turns every picture into absolute eye candy.  And of course everything must have either a ruffle, bow, flower, or better yet - all three!  Even these diy party hats she made for her daughter's birthday are covered in frills!  You'll most certainly find great tutorials, but if you want the frills without the work, Girl Inspired has an oh, so lovely etsy shop which you can get to here.  I very much encourage you to check this one out and guarantee that you will leave Girl Inspired, well, inspired!

this could be the start of something good...

 Happy 2011, everybody!  Did you have a spectacular first weekend of the new year?  The little one and I soaked up the very last bit of daddy on his vacation.  But alas it is Monday and he returns to the grind.  And I already have a new year to-do list that is growing by the minute.  Number 2 on the agenda:  buy bigger stuff for baby.  My sweet butterball continues to float right off the charts, and at 5 months he has outgrown his car seat ... and his clothes ... and yes, even his changing table.  All I can say is praise the Lord for Craigslist.

So, what's new with Waking Lucia?  Well, as we've established, it's a new year - which means new things. I am happy to announce that some attempt at a regularly scheduled program is going on here.  First on the menu:  Monday Blove.  What is Blove, you ask?

Yes, I'm one of those people that combines words.  I apologize - it just happens.  At any rate, this is the day that I introduce a great newly discovered blog.  Just another way to keep ourselves inspired.

She manages to find the cutest things to post about.  Like this ADORABLE cake she found and had made for her son's Christening party.
